What is Purple Mash AI?

Purple Mash AI is a feature within the 2Quiz tool in Purple Mash that helps teachers generate quiz questions automatically.

It uses artificial intelligence to create age-appropriate, curriculum-linked quiz questions quickly and efficiently, helping teachers save time when designing quizzes.

Once a quiz is generated, you can review, edit, and approve the questions before sharing them with pupils.

Who can access Purple Mash AI?

Access to the AI quiz generation feature is restricted to staff accounts only.

Pupils cannot access or use Purple Mash AI directly.

All quiz taking and marking remain within Purple Mash’s systems, AI is not used for marking or pupil responses.

What model powers Purple Mash AI?

The quiz generation is powered by ChatGPT-5, one of the most advanced language models available.

This model is particularly well-suited for educational quiz creation because it:

• Understands a wide range of curriculum topics and age-appropriate vocabulary.
• Can generate clear, structured, and varied question types (multiple-choice, true/false, etc.).
• Is designed to produce accurate, engaging, and balanced educational content.

All outputs should be reviewed and approved by teachers before use.

How many questions can be generated?

There is a limit of 10,000 AI-generated quiz questions per school per year, managed on a monthly basis. This helps ensure fair and consistent use across all schools.

Does any data go back into the AI model?

No, nothing outputted or entered into Purple Mash AI is used to train or improve the model.

This means:

• No student data, quiz answers, or teacher-created content are ever sent back to OpenAI or used for training.
• Quiz marking is handled entirely within Purple Mash, the AI is not involved in marking or assessing pupils.

Your data remains private and secure under 2Simple’s data protection policies.

Does the school need a policy on AI?

While not required to use Purple Mash AI, having a school AI policy is good practice. It helps staff understand how AI tools can be used responsibly and effectively in education.
