What's New in the Refreshed Scheme?

The Purple Mash computing scheme has been refreshed and refined in response to curriculum developments, emerging digital trends, new software and teacher feedback. Key changes include:

• Units have been reorganised, with some new units added, some removed or renamed, and others moved to more appropriate year groups. The length of some units has also been adjusted to better fit schools' needs
• Optional 'Introduction to Purple Mash' has been added to every year group
• Optional units for programming external devices have been added
• Knowledge and Skills questions have been added to every lesson to check prior learning has been understood and retained
• Self-review questions have been added to the end of each lesson
• Online Safety is now taught through 2BeSafe, and can be embedded throughout the school year
• More videos to support the teaching

How you access and use the Computing Scheme has been improved too, with all resources being integrated into the Purple Mash platform. The new layout will allow teachers and Computing Leads to:

• Browse and use slideshows within Purple Mash without the need to download them
• Easily access the resources and tools needed for each lesson
• Set 2Dos directly from the lesson, with objectives automatically added
• Assign dates to units being taught and generate a whole-school computing Long Term Plan (LTP)
