What are the Government Digital and Technology Standards?
The Government's Digital and Technology Standards are guidelines that aim to support your school in using the right digital infrastructure and technology, leading to safer, more cost-efficient practices and new learning opportunities for students (gov.uk).
The standards are organised into categories:
We've put together this document to show how Purple Mash helps your school meet these standards.
Those new to computing may also find the government's national standards for essential digital skills helpful, which, although aimed at adults, sets out skills in a clear manner.
The government guidance on essential digital skills sets out the digital skills needed for work and life. Although the guidance is aimed at adult-level, it is a helpful document to see the skills broken down into smaller, achievable tasks. It also includes a glossary of key terms.
Purple Mash's Computing Scheme has been created to ensure that Primary-aged children begin developing these skills that they will need for later life, and are prepared for the transition to Secondary School. The scheme is fully-aligned to the National Curriculum and also includes a full Online Safety Scheme, 2BeSafe.
2BeSafe offers comprehensive coverage of the DfE's Education for a Connected World framework and the lessons can be woven throughout your school's teaching timetable to ensure that online safety is a 'Golden Thread' that can be referred to in all lessons.
Purple Mash allows teachers to easily edit and differentiate resources to suit their learners' needs. In addition, features like audio recording for feedback and the use of dyslexia-friendly fonts and backgrounds ensures that Purple Mash caters to students with a range of additional needs.
